Graphic Sublayer Transfer Systems Workshop

  • [x]space arts hub 5137 Mission Street San Francisco, CA, 94112 United States (map)

This free Youth Art Exchange Workshop is a part of the EPA: Excelsior Public Art October 19 Quarterly Event.

Berg. will be hosting a GSTS workshop at Youth Art Exchange. Together, with participants, we will create the blueprint for a speculative machine. Collaborators are invited to create a schematic using the graphic sublayer transfer system (GSLTS)—the technique of placing paper on a textured surface and rubbing graphite to transfer the image to the paper. The workshop gives collaborators the opportunity to create their own component for the speculative machine. The drawings will be achieved by Berg. and collated to create the plans for the collective speculative machine.

Berg. is a design collective founded by Alexander Kozachek (YAX Summer 2019 ArtBUILD faculty artist!) and Benner Boswell to investigate the 90% of design work that is below the surface. This includes systems for making, cultural histories and environmental stewardship. Berg. has been exploring interstitial spaces in San Francisco and presents limited edition objects and experiences that respond to their field research.
