Double your ♡ of YAX!
Low income students who are highly engaged in the arts are more than twice as likely to graduate college as their peers with no arts education. – Americans for the Arts
YAX engages these public high school students in the arts, when most of their schools have limited arts programming. In some cases, YAX infuses arts learning directly into the school day at schools without art programs. In a year, YAX reaches 350 students and 4000 audience members.
During the month of June, we’re focusing on raising money for our exemplary youth arts programs. For 4 weeks, 45 youth interns from San Francisco public high schools will get together as artists: makers, performers, and presenters. Our Advisory Board has pledge to match the first $2500 raised during this campaign! We only have two weeks left! Show your ♡ and turn your $10 donation into $20, $50 into $100, or $100 into $200! If 250 people donate $10, we’ll meet our goal!
Here are some examples of what we turn your donations into: Continue reading

With these grants, CAC affords YAX more opportunities to expand our program offerings, build capacity as an organization, and foster connection, exchange, and creativity in YAX’s youth, teaching artists, and community. We’re just over a week into our summer internships and there’s already so much to celebrate! A few highlights:
- Tomorrow (Thursday), the Asian Art Museum hosts a ribbon cutting and block party to celebrate the launch of the Art/Lit Living Innovation Zone! The Art/Lit LIZ is San Francisco’s newest public art installation, designed by YAX’s young architects!
We’re having a blast during our first week of our Summer Internship Program and are super excited to announce our Board is matching the first $2500 raised in our Show Your Love fundraising campaign! We need your help to get these matching funds and to keep our programs free for San Francisco public high school youth!
A matching donation DOUBLES your contribution – turn your $25 donation into $50…or your $100 donation into $200. Any amount helps! Show your love for Youth Art Exchange and free arts classes for youth – donate here. ✔️
June is a busy month at Youth Art Exchange! We have 40 interns in our summer program – they’re here learning, creating, and collaborating 5 days a week. Hang out with us and see their work at these events: Continue reading
Are you a fashion designer or know someone who is?! YAX is looking for faculty for our fashion design program starting this fall.
Artists are hired as part-time Youth Art Exchange employees with living wages, earning paid leave and other benefit accruals rather than as independent contractors, which is most common for arts programming. Additionally, Youth Art Exchange invests in the professional development of its faculty; compensation includes attendance at conferences, workshops, and coaching. Continue reading
