(415) Public Gallery: Your work on our virtual walls, a crowdsourced art show

Youth Art Exchange announces the 3rd annual (415) Public Gallery, an art show that places the public as both exhibitors and audience members. Exhibiting (hopefully!) 415 pieces, the curation of the art show will be crowdsourced from those living/working/loving in San Francisco. No, we really mean EVERYONE, whether they consider themselves an artist or not, we want everybody’s creativity in our virtual gallery. All ages/backgrounds welcome.

By extending an open invitation to all - those who may or may not consider themselves artists - (415) Public Gallery aims to break down barriers to accessing the arts and questioning what is it to exhibit in a gallery space. Blurring lines between audience and exhibitor, (415) Public Gallery will extend further than “the traditional gallery”, as an exhibition by and for the public.

Work will be on display online beginning on April 6th, 2021. Join us for virtual exhibition opening on Thursday, April 15, from 6-7pm.

Honoring Pablo Ramirez

As we hold (415) Public Gallery online this year, we are honoring the life and memory of Pablo Ramirez. In 2019, we wanted to break down the walls of exhibiting and experiencing art, and developed our (415) Public Gallery open curation project. By bringing people together through exhibition- strangers, friends, community members, and those already connected to YAX, we held a space where people felt connected through their work and through seeing the work of others. Pablo Ramirez was one of the artists who participated in collaborative pieces for the show and had been a part of the space as an artist and audience member.

In the last two years, we have seen how much love for Pablo people all over the world continue to share in beautiful ways. Now, the Pablo Ramirez Foundation helps kids and young adults develop a positive lifestyle through skateboarding, music and art. It aims to inspire growth, positivity, confidence, creativity, self-respect, expression, and love as keys to discovering your true passions, finding joy, and living a happy life. Youth Art Exchange is supported by the Pablo Ramirez Foundation.
