Applications for our summer programs are now open! We’re thrilled to bring back our renowned Traditional Percussion Internship and introduce two new programs to expand opportunities for San Francisco’s public high school students:
- Youth Art Exchange Summer 2018 Filmmaking interns are making a webseries! This summer we’ll be exploring ideas of space and neighborhood through a youth-led webseries. We are building a team of writers and crew members who can create a series from start to finish. Each intern will receive a stipend of $425. They will be responsible for executing the series as well as completing an individual short documenting an aspect of the YAX summer program. Applications are due April 16 – learn more and apply here.
- Rhythm moves us all, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work as a professional percussionist, you should consider applying to the Traditional Percussion internship. As a percussion intern, you will gain experience in identifying and understanding different musical genres, their origins and cultural significance (Cuban, Brazilian, American Jazz, Pop Music and more). Our percussion internship will culminate with youth-led community workshops to share the skills they’ve learned with San Francisco residents. Each intern will receive a stipend of $300. Applications are due April 16 – learn more and apply here.
- ARTBUILD is a FREE interdisciplinary architecture, art and design program for rising 9th graders. It is a program which applies the principles of design thinking to real-world issues. The program will connect rising 9th graders to the youth interns of Youth Art Exchange under the guidance of our teaching professionals. Applications are due April 30 – learn more and apply here.
