Get paid to learn percussion this summer! YAX is looking for a few more interns for our Traditional Percussion program, which takes place June 5–29 and culminates in a final performance at the Koret Auditorium, in conjunction with ART(S)MASH.
YAX’s Traditional Percussion internship explores musical traditions reflective of the African Diaspora and Latin America including Cuban Bomba y Plena, Brazilian Bloco, Haitian Percussion, and more. The percussion program strives to preserve cultural traditions by passing on traditional rhythms and music on to young musicians.
In the Traditional Percussion program, YAX interns have a chance to learn different instruments and styles from renowned professional musicians in partnership with SFJAZZ, try their hands at composition, and perform at the end of their session. For this four week program, interns are paid $425!
