The Mix at San Francisco Public Library is a creative learning space for teens where they are able to make things, access resources, and gather with their peers from across the city. Youth Art Exchange has partnered with The Mix to host exhibitions and showcase the work of YAX’s summer filmmaking internship. They also partnered with the printmaking summer interns to produce prints speaking to each young artists’ favorite and/or most influential book:
This series of prints gave students the opportunity to create art around an important literary work and having their point of view heard. The Mix has also previously exhibited at the San Francisco Youth Arts Summit and will continue to do so in the upcoming years. We hope to have more collaborative projects with The Mix next year that build connections between the literary and visual arts.
Youth Art Exchange is proud to partner with arts organizations from across San Francisco and believes that our programming and ability to lift up the work of our youth is made stronger through collaborations. We’ll be highlighting some of these partnerships each week – stay tuned!
