We’re already half way through our month-long summer arts internships for public high school students in San Francisco. This summer fifty talented youth, of all experience levels, have been meeting everyday to work in their discipline of Architecture, Black & White Photography, Printmaking or Traditional Percussion. Through their internship, these young artists have been exploring themes of gentrification, community identity and public space. Their upcoming performances, exhibitions and installations are not to be missed!

07/10 THURSDAY, 12:00-3:00PM
*Come out next Thursday for Excelsior Community Day when our youth will be activating the Persia Triangle, at the intersection of Mission, Ocean + Geneva.
Youth Art Exchange Architects will set the stage with custom public seating, activity space and food trucks to transform the Persia Triangle. Youth Art ExchangePrintmakers will present their Portraits of the Excelsior series, a culmination of their print project exploring the Excelsior, its residents and its history. Youth Art ExchangePercussionists will wow us with a mega performance that surveys their month of study in traditional percussion including Bomba y Plena, Afro Brazilian, Afro Haitian and Afro Cuban rhythms. Finally, our Youth Art Exchange Photographers will be there to document it all! Come get your photo taken, enjoy some food, and be a part of Excelsior’s Community Day.
